Tulsa Shootout
Technical Report Continued: 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Product Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink.
Continued results from Tire Samples collected throughout the 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Product Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink have been delivered, and three more samples have returned, not conforming to the benchmark.
As posted in the rules for the Tulsa Shootout, The following classes MUST run the Hoosier ASCS2 stamped Right Rear tire or you will be disqualified: Left Rear must be a Hoosier. Winged Outlaw, Non-Wing Outlaw, Winged A-Class, Stock Non-Wing and Restricted 'A' Class. In Junior Sprints, all four corners of tires are to be Hoosiers. The right rear spec tire is to be the Hoosier Jr. Sprint tire16.0/8.5/8/8 RD 20. In all classes, tire samples will be taken and sent to be tested. Any doping of tires is illegal and will result in the disqualification and forfeiture of all purse money.
The following drivers are disqualified from the 2025 Tulsa Shootout:
Bryton Buoy – Sample taken after Race 205 (Junior Sprint)
Sawyer McBride – Sample taken after Race 207 (Junior Sprint)
Caleb Johannesen – Sample taken after Race 209 (Junior Sprint)
This brings the total to six drivers, with the following reported earlier on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
Daniel Shaffer – Sample taken after Race 10 (Outlaw)
Jett Nunley – Sample taken after Race 51(Outlaw NW)
Shawn Whitney – Sample taken after Race 96 (A-Class)
All samples were taken in the designated Tech Area as soon as the race was completed and cars cleared the scales. Samples were taken using the respective team’s tire groover and witnessed by team members. All samples were placed into a vile and then put into a numbered evidence bag. Each sample, including the date it was taken, race number, tire compound, tire serial number, evidence bag number, official’s initials, and a team representative’s signature.
The final round of samples will be sent following the Tulsa Shootout, and results will be reported once they are delivered.
The 40th annual Smiley’s Racing Product Tula Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink concludes on Saturday, January 4 at the SageNet Center at Expo Square.
