Mattix McBride Holds On For Junior Sprint Win!

Bryan Hulbert – TULSA, Okla. (December 31, 2022) Keeping his cool the entire Junior Sprint A-Feature, Tulsa’s Mattix McBride held off the late race charge of Blayden Graham for his first career Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout victory in the Junior Sprints.

Chased by Eli Holden until Lap 12, the No. 5e retired early, leaving California’s Blayden Graham to chase the No. 11. Glued to the leader’s bumper, the pair broke rank with two laps to go. Rushing up the track, Graham pulled up on McBride as the pair raced around to the white flag. Not letting the challenge phase him, McBride held on to win by 0.168-seconds.

Miken Iverson was right there through the closing laps after starting 12th but would end up settling for the show position. Braxon Vasconcellos and Jaxon Peters completed the top five. Jagger Wiggs, Brody Stewart, Kinser Bloomquist, Bristol Spicola, and Kyle Heflin made up the top ten.

The Junior Sprint field consisted of 96 entries.

The 39th annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout takes place December 26-31, 2023, atop the Tulsa Expo Raceway, located inside the SageNet Center at Expo Square in Tulsa, Okla. Details on the event will be posted as the dates near.
