Bio

Zachary Scott Drummond was born in Stuttgart Arkansas on 11/26/99.

He began his love of the outdoors at his dads hunting lodge at an early age riding ATVs and golf carts. Zach spent summers at every go kart track he could convince his dad to take him to until he moved to Knoxville Tennessee where he began his racing career in the summer of 2012 racing oval dirt Karts at Dumplin Valley Raceway or “The Dump" as it is known. From there he moved back to Alabama when his dad changed jobs and continued racing Karts at Pensacola Raceway, in Pensacola Florida where he ran 2/3 of the season and finished 3rd in points in both the Clone Light and Clone Medium classes! One of his most memorable tracks was the few times he raced at the high banked 1/4 mile Baker Soeedway, in Baker Florida on the special occasions where Baker would run Karts instead of cars.

Then due to more jobs changes for his dad and another relocation Zach was forced to focus on Baseball instead of racing for a couple of years. So for 2 years he focused on high school baseball where he played short stop and was the MVP his senior year along with the highest batting average and on base percentage. With his stats at the top of the charts in his senior year he caught the eye of four college coaches. With another Job change for his dad they were able to race again and decided to move up and run 600 Micros at Southern Illinois Raceway. Zach continued playing baseball for the possible options his senior year and at the same time started learning how to handle a micro sprint car. After graduating from Ballard Memorial high school Zach was offered 4 baseball scholarships where he turned them all down to pursue his passion and a career in racing. Thankfully his dad is a former national champion on ATVs and understood the passions for racing or there might have been more sparks at his declining the college baseball opportunities!

In March of 2020 Zach went to Myrtle Beach Speedway and tested for Empire Racing and Grumpy's Performance in a late mode stock car on asphalt for the very first time ever. His performance in the car got him an invite to drive for Grumpy's but as with everyone in 2020 things went soundly h fast. Due to the onset of covid and the economic situation in 2020 Zach's sponsorship deals went away and he was not able to drive for Empire. They gave him another chance to get into the racing world and offered him a spot to work on their race team and hired him to work at their race shop building cars and on the race team. So Zach moved from Western Kentucky to Mooresville, NC where he resides today to learn the racing world from the inside and out of how the race cars were built and set up to race to how the industry works. Zach has advanced his career as a fabricator and is now working for Young's Motorsports in Mooresville, NC while he hones his craft in Micros and puts together the marketing partnerships needed to step up and run the bigger cars. His passion will always be dirt racing but the desire to run asphalt and compete at the top levels is just too strong to ignore!
